Allow me to share a bit about myself and the journey that led me to create Liquid Gold Apothecs, a holistic wellness brand founded in 2019. It is my mission is to promote holistic wellness and self-care by offering high-quality, handmade therapeutic products. I believe that everyone deserves to feel their best, both physically and mentally, and that my products can help support this goal.
My background is quite varied - I started my career as a literature professor, and later became an urban agricultural specialist. While these two fields may seem vastly different, they both instilled in me a love of nature and a desire to promote well-being in others. In fact, it was my experiences working with plants and natural remedies as an urban agricultural specialist combined with my professional research skills that sparked my interest in holistic wellness and led me to create Liquid Gold Apothecs.
I began experimenting with making my own natural skincare products and herbal remedies, using the knowledge I had gained from my work in agriculture and my love of literature to guide me. I quickly discovered that there was a need for these types of products - products that were made with high-quality natural ingredients and that promoted overall wellness and self-care.
That's how Liquid Gold Apothecs was born. My products are a reflection of my passion for nature, literature, and holistic wellness. Each product is carefully crafted with natural ingredients and designed to promote relaxation, rejuvenation, and a sense of well-being.
As a small business owner, I am committed to creating products that are not only healthy for you, but that are also healthy for the environment. Saajida’s Professional Bio
Saajida A. Chohan is an artist, educator, cultural architect, entrepreneur, and community engagement strategist with more than 15 years of experience across nonprofit organizations, higher education, cultural institutions, and public-private partnerships.
She currently serves as Director of Entrepreneurship at the Metropolitan Business League (MBL), where she leads programs that support small business development and entrepreneurial education for the Richmond Region as well as Hampton Roads. She also serves on the City of Richmond Mayor's Arts & Culture Advisory Council, as well as on the Shockoe Arts & Culture board. Saajida is also leading the development of Richmond Art Week launching in Fall 2027.
Previously, Saajida served as Director of Education & Visitor Experience at the Black History Museum & Cultural Center of Virginia and has held roles with the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, The Valentine Museum, Virginia State University, Morgan State University, Brightpoint Community College, and Richmond Public Schools.
She is also the founder of Liquid Gold Apothecs, a wellness-centered business that blends artistry, natural healing, cultural heritage, and holistic wellness. Through handcrafted healing stone jewelry, herbal body care, and intentional wellness products inspired by African traditions and the natural world, Saajida creates pieces that encourage self-care, mindfulness, and personal empowerment.
Saajida holds bachelor's and master's degrees in Literature from Virginia State University and certifications in Minority Political Leadership, Grant Writing, Women's Entrepreneurship, Sustainable Urban Agriculture, and Master Gardening. In 2025, she was recognized as an 804 Woman Making History for her leadership and community impact.
